PROMPT FOR PASSWORD
Seen this is only about a few cases did you check those users are not logged in with cached credentials or with rememberd password It will only ask you for a pasword if your SSO credentials are not ok. This can happen in the following cenarios: 1: The pc is not ( or not annymore afther 120 days not connected ) a member of the domain 2: User logs is with cached credentials and has not been in the domain for a while 3: The user used the check box remember my credentials and in the mean while the pasword has been changed. 4: the pasword has been changed on a Domain controller not in the same site as the exchange server and replication will take time. First thing i would do is clear the password vault for passwords used by outlook and re-logon in the domain so you are sure the pc and the useraccount are logging in live ( vpn dialed before logging in ). If issue still persists please report back. MCTS-MCITP exchange 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Exchange: 2007 | MCSA Messaging: 2003 | MCP windows 2000

I sent that to the end user who uses Outlook 2010: http://www.mockbox.net/office-2010/308-outlook-2010-prompting-for-password And it does solve the prompt issue. Oultook authentication for OA was a basic authentication and the prompt password appeared only once when the user started outlook.

Hello, I use Exchange 2007 (We have a SAN name certificate in our organization). When a user is Working From Home and opens Outlook, he got a prompt for entrering the password (he is connected on Internet and do not use a VPN connection). I only have 2-3 cases and also WFM but I do not face the same issue. Could you please tell me what should first verify? I did create a new profil on my PC using the user's account who had the problem and I did NOt get the prompt for log into Outlook (simple Internet connection NO VPN and Working from home). I recently changed my profile to another profile I haven't used for long time (no pwd changed) and it requested my account' password. I'm getting pretty confused.. :-S Graig

that is my option 3 answer althought in my explanation is not so extended as in that post. What happen is a mix of 3 and 4.when you change your pasword and dont relogon outlook keeps using your old credentials and will prompt you. Than most users will mark the remember my credentials and thus creating a vault credential. Than the computer will keep using that pasword and on the next change it will give you issues. Hi Graig, I noticed that there is no problem after you create Profile use problematic account and logon. So , I think, the problem on Outlook client. Please check if there is any Antivirus is enabled on client, if yes, please disable it and test again. Please also recreate Outlook Profile on problematic client and test. By the way, what authentication method you use for OutlookAnywhere ? And Does it always keeping prompt password or prompt password only once?Wendy Liu TechNet Community Support
