Make sure pop3 virtual server is running. Open port 110 on your firewall and forward it to your Exchange server. It's recommended to use SSL and open secure POP3 on port 995 as basic authentication will send credentials in clear text. Go through article below, ignore the ISA part at the end if you're not using it. If you want to connect to SMTP please use Client SMTP Port 587 and make sure that the encrypton methos is configured correctly on the client. (so that it corresponds to the configuration of the client smtp service on your Exchange system). regards Thomas Paetzold visit my blog on: http://sus42.wordpress.com

You're using 2003 so it defaults to port 25 for SMTP. In outlook did you set SMTP to authenticate you, outgoing server tab, my outgoing server requires authentication? Also your might be blocking port 25.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Do you really what to use tcp Port 25 without authentification? I think this is not a good idea otherwise if you want to configure a Spam relay Server. feel free. regards Thomas Paetzold visit my blog on: http://sus42.wordpress.com

Do telnet test and see if you can authenticate with your credentials. http://www.kongtechnology.com/2008/01/27/smtp-authentication-and-send-emails-using-telnet/James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com
