PF 2003 db dismounts
Verify that your Windows AV isn't scanning Exchange files. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823166 Replication of Public Folder is performed by SMTP mail being sent between the Public folder Databases. Since you have a fairly large scale replication going on, it would create a lot of SMPT mail between servers and also a lot of transaction log files building up on the target servers. If you do AV scaning in Exchange, it would work fairly hard during the massive replication, This could also affect database dismounts. How did you create replicas of folders? did you add replicas for all foldes at the same time? lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

Hello, Could you please provide the detailed application log information about the 1159 error? BTW, please check whether there are any backup jobs running at the backgroud which may cause this issue. I have 2 large replica public folder dbs, exchange 2003. One of the replica dbs is dismounting every few hours after multiple 1159 errors. There are also some repeating 3079 3090 3031 errors. this public folder system has been running fine, performance is fine. As the size should indicate, it's been around for a few years - no issues. I'm sure this is related to recent efforts to break up the large db into 3 smaller ones. It is my intention, first phase, to break up the large 2tb db in to 3 dbs just over 600gb. This would make a total of 6, 3 replicas to replace each existing replica. I will reconfigure replication, adding the 3, then remove the original. So far I have added 2 replicas on one side, both orignal 2tb replicas are still running. I will start the 3rd server pulling the the last 1/3rd of the folders tomorrow, when this is done the problem server will be removed. Still, I don't know why it's dismounting. Drive space/ram/cpu are all good. The errors point to logs filling or not keeping up, they aren't filling, drive space is fine. Could it be that this server is having to log more because of the added replicas? If so, why isn't the other original replica server having the same issue? Any help is much appreciated!

No AV running on any of these systems right now. To add replicas I used PfDAVadmin to group the folders as close to equal as I could. This worked out well so I took the first 2 600gb groups and added each to one of the new replica servers. Now this process has completed, smpt queues are quiet and the size of the 2 new dbs is right at the same size that I calculated with pfdavdadmin. The dismounting was taking a few hours, now it's about 30 minutes

Been trying to keep up with replicating to new systems faster than the existing ones run out of space. A combination of 20 gig of new data and increased db size from replication contributed to the db growing very fast and creating more log files than the system could keep up with. The db was dismounting because it exceeded maximum number of log files. Tried to move it to a new partition with a tb of free space but after many different attempts that has failed. I'm removing the problem server this morning. I have been able to keep the original other replica server running enough to replicate out to 3 new servers.
