Overload on Store.exe
Is there any way of throtling back or restricting the store.exe on Exchange as no matter how much memory I add to the server the service starts low and soon gobbles up all available memory

You should monitor the memory if it is Exchange 2003. 2007/2010 eats up lots of memory and is normal. the following thread talks about it http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/5a5a99e0-4eba-4b92-9167-3f60c7653a42/

High use of memory by store.exe is to be expected and is by design. If you have bought the RAM then it should be used. The days of wanting lots of free RAM are long gone. However, if you have something else on the system which wants the memory, then Exchange should release it. If that isn't happening, then something is wrong. The usual cause is a third party application integrated in to Exchange, often AV, which isn't allowing the RAM to be released. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

Dear, The Exchange information store service (STORE.EXE) is referred to as the store or the Information store. The store.exe initializes the database engine (ESE), and handles caching the and all client connections. So it’s reasonable that store.exe occupy the large memory.

Hi, Exchange will use as much much memory as it needs and release it to other appllication as needed. This is by design. Are you seeing performance issues? If so, have you considered increasing your RAM? Thanks.Nagaraj N
