Outlook synchronization with 2 clients problem
I have a strange issue with Outlook/Exchange 2003. When I work in Outlook offline mode on my laptop, I mark an email in my inbox as read and move it to some subfolder. When I connect to the network and my Outlook synchronizes, the item that I have marked read and moved is indeed being moved to the subfolder, but it is not being marked read. This only occurs if the item was modified when Outlook is in the offline mode. I have checked this across multiple profiles and different accounts and this issues perists. Any ideas?

Seems to me like corruption in OST. I would like you to check the following KB.Do you get any sync errors during send and receive session under sync folder in outlook?Synchronizing e-mail messages with an OST does not update the Sent Items folder when you use Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2002 to work offlinehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/280851Try this.Renamed the files below.1) Outcmd.dat drive:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook2) Extend.dat drive:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook3)Created new outlook profile.Assuming all the above folder location were default, if you have any customized profile location, or roaming then look for the customized profile path.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Unfortunately it seems that the problem is Exchange related. I have tried deleting ost file as well as outcmd.dat and extend.dat as well as trying this on a different client and user. Problem persists. Any other ideas? Thank you for your help.

Is this happening with all the users? If you're using Enterprise Edition then could you please create one new SG/MBx and move one of the problematic user to that store and confirm the same.?Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Yes. It happens to all users in 2 different stores. You can likely see this scenario yourself if you have 2 computers

Hi, I would like to explain that it is a known issue in Outlook 2003. I suggest you apply following hotfix to check whether the issue still persists: Note: You need to install Outlook 2003 service pack 3 before installing the hotfix. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945431/en-us Mike
