Outlook redirect to external without server rules
Hi there, I want to redirect mails on outlook using a rule but only at certain times (weekends). I can make the rule easily enough but it won't fun, i guess because on the server 'Allow automatic forwarding' is not enabled. We don't wish to allow the whole company to be able to do this, just 3 or 4 users, and i understand to allow automatic forwarding this has to be done under the global settings on the exchange server and cant be done for specific users? Is there a way I can enable a specific user to be able to create a rule in thier outlook to redirect his emails to an external email account (Gmail) but without creating a rule on the server? e.g making a hidden contact on the address book and so the user forwards his mail to this user and the server has a rule for this hidden user to forward the mails to an external account? Hope everything is clear(!) Any help would be greatly appreciated Regards Jm

You will not be able to do this without some custom programming.

Thanks for the info Jim, would this be creating a macro in outlook? Is this something you could help with? I am wanting to redirect mails from 5.30pm to 8.30amweekdays and all weekend. Many thanks for your input Regards Jm

Hi, Please understand that the forward feature only works on the basis of checking "Allow automatic forward" option under Global Settings. After that, please configure the forward rule on the specific Outlook which need to achieve this feature. However, to reach the goal that forward the email only at certain times is impossible unless customizing the program as Jim said. Thanks Allen

Hi James, This is really something WAY beyond my capabilities. I am a systems guy, not a developer. If you are looking for a good developer to help you with this, you might try http://www.slovaktech.com/ They have written some pretty cool extensions for Exchange and Outlook. Jim

James/Jim, PMJI, but our Mobile Email Redirect installs into Outlook and performs a redirect and as asked, supports the times at which it will or won't work. Note that Outlook must always be running (it's an add-in, not a service) so this might not be the right solution, but there you go. HTH!
