Outlook prompts for login for sharepoint lists My Site

Hi all,

I am sure you have all heard of this one here before, but it is new to me. I have been asked to troubleshoot a weird issue that only happes for 10 people out of 400+. for some people using a desktop PC when they open up outlook it will prompt for username and password. as soon as we close that connection and do send and recieve all it goes away.

It seems to be a sharepoint list called MySite - Personal Documents that is causing this behavior and also when users try to login using either DOMAIN\username + password or username + password. after 3 times it locks their AD account. This indicate to me that it must be a permission setting somewhere.

What i would really like to know is, can you stop this MySite - Personal Documents to not publish so Outlook does not pick it up? we are not using the feature, so it should not be there in the first place.

No real troubleshooting data
I would love to be able to give you all lots of facts, but i have not got that many.
1. Windows XP and Windows 7 users affected
2. Users seems to all be on our 2010 Exchange server
3. Users say they have not connected any sharepoint list

I have not got any screenshot of the issue, still trying to find out if someone sent a screenshot to internal IT support that i can use.

Any pointers would be brilliant.

Hi,

It might be enabled with Office deploying.
You can suggest to manually remove the list via the following steps:

1. Launch Outlook

2. Tools > Account Settings > SharePoint Lists tab

3. Double click the SharePoint list that you want to delete from Outlook

4. Check the box that says "Don't  display this list on other computers I use"  and select OK

5. This takes you back to the SharePoint Lists tab - click the list you wish to remove to highlight the list

6. Click the Remove Button above the list

7. Click Close

8. Close Outlook

9. Repeat the above steps on each machine where you use Outlook.

Sincerely

I had someone who was having this issue, but it looks like it was because Integrated Windows Authentication wasn't working.  She was getting prompted to login to SharePoint as well.

To resolve the issue I went to:

1. Internet Options
2. Security Settings
3. Local Intranet Zone
4. Custom level...
5. User Authentication section > Logon
6. Select "Automatic logon with current user name and password"

Her prior setting was "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone" which wasn't working even though she was on the domain, and the SharePoint site was listed in Trusted Sites.

This user had the SharePoint List because she had added a SharePoint calendar to Outlook.  Removing someone's shared calendar may not be desirable.

On the other hand, if the user is on a laptop and takes it, they're going to get prompted to login to SharePoint unless they have a VPN connection.

Hi,

I have several users that have the same issue. We have already tried removing the list from the account settings. This helps for a few hours, and then the list somehow comes back again.

Does anyone have any other suggestions to counter this constant login prompt?

Thank you!

Inge

I tried many many suggestion from many sites and none did work.

I fixed it in the alternate access for sharepoint (URL)

I had empty the field "Internet" I was using only the field "Intranet" so i use "sharepoint.whatever.net" in both.

No more prompt!

I fixed the issue with a simple Registry Key, which is already placed in the \Office\14.0\ but not in the Office\15.0 Registry Structure:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Portal\Link Providers\MySiteHost]
"OSCAutoConnect"="0"
