Outlook on mac computers are unable to find or connect to our exchange server.

We started facing this problem where the apple computers can not connect to the exchange server via outlook or applemail or anything for that matter. All the other computers can connect to the exchange server with no problems and the apple computers can even access the exchange server via OWA but the outlook and applemail apps would not connect to exchange. We have tried even deleting and re-creating some accounts on the apps but they still would not connect. At this point I am at a complete loss and I looked everywhere through google to find out if anyone else has faced this problem but to no avail.

A little background information. This specific problem started happening after there was an un-expected series of power outages to the servers and they were shut down un-expectedly. I personally restored the servers and turned on all the services and made sure everything was up and running after the power outages and everything was working fine. Also the first instance of the problem with the mac computers only happened two days after the servers were back up and running again and they had no issues in those two days.

It has been a while that our users are making due with OWA and our exchange server is configured to work with automatic setup on outlook and the automatic configuration works fine on windows computers.

Just a note, the same issue exists on mobile devices as well.

Hi,

If the issue happens to all Mac computers but not occurs in Windows users, it indicates that the user account in AD and mailbox in Exchange should be fine.

Generally, the Outlook for Mac is using Exchange Web Service (EWS) to connect to the Exchange server. Please check the EWS configuration in Exchange server:

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | FL Identity,*AUTH*,*url*

In IIS Manager, please check whether the Application Pools are all started. Please restart the MSExchangeServiceAppPool to have a try.

Thank you for the reply.

I'm just not sure that I understand the syntax of the command you specified. More specifically I'm not sure what I should put in the *AUTH* part and for the url I just put for example mail.contoso.com?

EDIT: I made sure that all the Application Pools are started in IIS and restarted the MSExchangeServiceAppPool. Tested on my mac laptop and it does not seem to have changed anything.

Regards

Hi,

Please run the command above in your EMS without any changes and share the command results here (please protect your private information).

Then please directly access the EWS url in IE and check whether a proper XML page returns. In Windows machine, please confirm whether the client users can view the free/busy information in Scheduling Assistant when creating a meeting.

Also check whether there is any event logs in Exchange server for further analysis.

Hi,

What's the detailed information about Exchange environment? Coexist environment or pure Exchange server? The issue should be related to your EWS service. Please change the EWS url to the same namespace with your OWA url (Confirm your OWA url can work fine).

For example, if your OWA url is set to https://mail.domain.com/OWA, please change your EWS urls by:
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS_Server_Name\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx -ExternalUrl https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx

Then access the EWS URL from IE to have a try. If the page fails, please post the page error here.

We currently have an environment where Sharepoint, Lync and Exchange Coexist.

The EWS url is currently in the same namespace as the OWA url and the syntax of it is exactly the same as you specified: https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx

As soon as I open the page on IE or even google chrome, a popup window asks for my username and password and I enter in my exchange username and password. Also did try formatting the username like domain\username. The result is that it just keeps asking me for username and password over and over again.
