Outlook offline / connection problem...
Hello all. I'm having a really strange problem with our Exchange 2003 server I was hoping someone could help me with. I've searched the threads and couldn't find anything that narrowed down the problem. I'm not an expert on Exchange, so that might be the majority of the reason! I work in a small office of 7 employees. Once a week almost everybody gets an Outlook error message that says they cannot connect to the Exchange server because it is either not connected or it is offline--it lasts pretty much the entire day and then the next day everything is fine. Nothing different or special is done to the network or the computers. When it happens, that is the only computer problem; everything else is fine;the internet works fine and the rest of the network is accessible and visible. I just don't know enough about Exchange to figure out what could be causing this. It also happens occassionally when I go to add new Exchange accounts in Outlook; when I type in the correct Exchange address and try to check the mailbox name it gives me the same error message. We don't have a dedicated IT person; my boss only hires one to do major stuff. So, I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I have all the administrator info so I can log in and check any settings or do anything that is necessary. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,Did you check the Application event log? Whether any error message appear in there? From your description, it seems that the connection has the issue between the Exchange server and GC.Please understand that Outlook first needs to connect the Exchange server which proxies to GC in order to resolve the name. And then Outlook connects the Exchange server to retrieve the data. Thus, there should be the communication issue among the servers. You can also try to use DCdiag/Netdiag to check if we have network or DC connection related issue.ThanksAllen
