Outlook not seeing the GAL???
Hi Everyone, We have Exchange2003 runningand for some reason email thatis sent from domain users shows the FROM field as <O=/Domain/OU=GROUP/CN=RECEPIENT/CN=USERNAME> in a users outlook mailbox. Is there any way to have this come through as just the normal format of FROM field = Username? Thanks Collin

Hi Collin, I would like to know: 1. Whether it is a pure Exchange 2003 environment? 2. Whether both the senders and recipients are internal users? 3. Whether the issue occurs on specific senders or specific recipients? 4. Whether the issue occurs when sending a new email or reply an email? In addition, please enable Message Tracking Log and paste related log information here. Note: Please help me gather the detailed log information from C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\server.log instead of the information from Message Tracking Center tool. Mike

Hi Mike, Yes it is a pure Exchange 2003 environment Both the senders and recipients are internal users to the domain. I guess I should have mentioned that this issue has only occur for messages that were imported from a pst file. Any new messages that arrive are okay. Only the messages that were imported via pst have had this specific issue. This does not occur to any new messages, only the messages that were imported via a pst file. Is there anyway for outlook to go back through the messages and simply resync the from addresses to the GAL? Thanks, Collin

Hi Collin, Well it gives a clue, you need to add legacyExchangeDN as an X500 address for the users who all are giving problem, wait for some time to update GAL & OAB and you may need to restart outlook after sometime. How to set X500 proxy addresses for Exchange Server 2003 recipients and for Exchange 2000 Server recipients http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313324

I set that option and waited a few hours. I had the user close and restart outlook with the same result. The email addresses for the imported messages still show the /O=Domain/OU=OU NAME/CN=RECIPIENTS/USERNAME. Any other ideas? Thanks, Collin
