Outlook changing pdf and doc extensions when sending attachments
I can attach a .pdf or .doc in outlook (2010 or 2007), but when it is sent, the recipient receives the attachment as a .pd_ or .doc_. Why is this happening, and how can I fix this. I have tried several different things, by making sure it is not sending in RTF.

Hi,

We need to narrow down this issue first, whether it's created on the sender's side or the recipient's side.

1. Please check the sent attachments in your Sent Items folder, have the attachment names changed?

2. Please also check if other recipients meet the issue.

3. If it's on the particular recipient's side, it could be some security mechanism in the recipient's mail system, then we need to contact their system administrator.

4. It could also be some security softwares on the user's computer that change the attachment name. Let the recipient disable the security software temporarily, send the attachment to him/her again to check the result.

In case it's related to some add-ins on the recipient's side, please also let the recipient run Outlook in Safe Mode to check the result:

Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter. If there is no such issue then, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which one caused the issue.

Thank you. I found the issue. It is with our anti-virus (Kaspersky). For some reason the mail add-on was set to change the word and pdf extensions. I unchecked them and everything is working back to normal. I appreciate the response.
