Outlook anywhere cannot connect to the new Exchange server 2013 but OWA is working fine.

We have existing Exchange 2007 SP3, and we just installed 2 Exchange 2013 SP1 in DAG configuration to co-exist with Exchange 2007. Everything went smoothly with the installation and configuration.

The OWA is working perfectly fine BUT our problem is with the Outlook anywhere, All new users(Outlook 2010,outlook 2013) cannot connect to the new Exchange server 2013. The Error is The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.Outlook must be online to complete this action. The exchange 2007 clients are still ok connected to exchange 2007.

Below is the details with Outlook anywhere and the Autodiscovery for your reference.

I still have this error "The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.Outlook must be online to complete this action.  when configuring the outlook 2010/2013 to connect to exchange 2013. Does this anything to do with the Autodiscover or Certificate???

Hi Hinte...thanks...i only tried the Method 2 but still the same error...i am afraid to try the Method 1 because all users are connected to our existing Exchange 2007 SP3 and if i execute that command "Set-RpcClientAccess Server Exchange_server_name EncryptionRequired $False" , i am afraid all users will lose the connectivity to the exchange 2007. Will it harm the existing connection if i execute that command??? Please advise...

Thanks again..awaiting your reply...

Run Get-RpcClientAccess -Server <server> | fl encypt*

and see what it returns.

The other thing to check is in the Outlook Profile under the email acccount settings, check to see if this option is greyed out/not enabled

hi hinte,

If the details of the 2 new 2013 exchange encryption is set to "true" does it mean i have to run the commandSet-RpcClientAccess Server Exchange_server_name EncryptionRequired $False". How about the old Exchange 2007, do i have to change it also or leave the current configuration of the encryption?? Will it affect the existing client connection of exchange 2007??  Please advise...

I was not able to check the outlook profile because the first time the email account  is setup this error come out after  checking and login to the exchange server The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.Outlook must be online to complete this action.

thanks again...

We still have this problem...please help as we are so desperately want to solve this so that we can proceed with migration..

The exchange 2013 installed is  with SP1,, looks like Exchange 2013 SP1 is so complicated. Can i install another plain exchange 2013 without sp1 in the same active directory without removing the exchange 2013 sp1 and use these exchange 2013 without sp1???  Please help...

No, what's the 2007 servers set to?

Also, check a preexisting profile that is pointed to Exchange 2007 to see if the encryption option is grey

open a web browser and try connecting to each of the AutodiscoverInternalServiceUri parameters.  What roles do mail3, mail4, and mail5 have installed on them?
