Outlook anywhere
Hi gurus I would like to know the best practice to procee with the following setup. I have a user that connect to the exchange server using POP, I understand all the emails are located on the user local machine, at this point we have exchange 2007 (finally) and I would like to bringthis user to our exchange using OL anywhere. 1) do I delete the POP profile and use the data file to point to the old PST email as archive and the create a new profile with the OLanywhere setup so it goes directly to the ex? how would it be the best practice to accomplish this. I know POP and OLAW can cooexist, as they will both be pointing to the same ex, so no need for POP any more. Thanks a bunch

Hi, 1. Save the PST file that you are using in the current profile 2. Create a new profile and set it up for Outlook anywhere 3. Import the PST file into the Outlook anywhere profile, remember it can take a while to sync into the Exchange mailbox. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

Martin You the guru, thanks a bunch, just to be clear on my side when you said import PST into the Outlook anywhere profile, did you mean to add a new data file into that profile, like it was an archive? thanks

Hi, I mean you have some mails in the POP account profile now, and I am pretty sure that the user would like to keep this data. If you export the PST file or just use the one you have already you can import it to the Outlook Anywhere profile so that the user can keep all the mails he has now. This way all the current mails and calendar events will get back to the Exchange server where you can maintain backup instead of it being placed on the laptop of the user. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.
