Outlook Social Connector 2013 not working for linkedin

Hi

Outlook Social Connector 2013 is not able to connect to linkedin

When using Social Network Accounts in Outlook 2013, tick linkedin, the entry of username/password immediately after hitting connect is showing "invalid username or password".

Appears like it never really checked with the account.

And

No, there's in no strange signs/keys used in the password

Yes, it's working from web entry

Yes, it's working when using Windows Mail (win 8) linking it to my Hotmail account from same PC

No, the Antivirus is not the issue, same with or without

Yes, only one profile is used in Outlook 2013

Yes, have tried to re-installed Office 2013

Yes, my linked in profile is set to allow 3rd party applications to connect

Yes I have tried another social network (Facebook) at this one is working

And finally, yes I have looked at other treads in outlook forum, here, and "google" around for a day.

Conclusion, the outlook 2013 addin is in some degree working, i'm very far from the only one with the issue, and no-one seems to have an idea what's really blocking for accessing the linkedin social networks from Outlook 2013, and a solution other than standard suggestions to try to re-install and set it up from scratch again. Not working...tried that.

Any suggestions / ideas ?

This just occurred to me today as well. I uninstalled and re-installed Office 2013, changed my LinkedIn password, etc. FaceBook social connector is still working.

Any assistant is appreciated!

Same problem here - previously working LinkedIn social connector now cannot connect - says "Unable to log in to: LinkedIn. Click here to log in." and of course, clicking there and putting in the valid username and password does not work.

Complains that the password or username is not correct...

Down for me too, tried changing the passwords to something else.

Works with the webpage with old and new password.

Facebook connector works

Did not uninstall / reinstall

with or without the antivirus or firewall / DMZ makes no difference

To Everyone Who are facing this problem..

It looks like its a problem with linkedin with Outlook 2013. Several Queries are asked now related to this.

It seems that this is authentication problem and either microsoft needs to release a patch (it will take a lot of time) Or it's a problem with LinkedIn and they need to fix it.

Same Problem started 2 days ago.  I've uninstalled Outlook, I've changed my linkedin user and password about 4 times.

Apparently:

Dmitry Bogopolskiy

LinkedIn certificate has expired here: https://outlook.linkedinlabs.com/
So Outlook fails when tries to connect.
Let's wait till LinkedIn updates it.

I used Fiddler to check it and was able to accept the expired certificate and sign into linkedin - fiddler gave me the option to accept the expired certificate, which outlook doesn't allow you to do.

I have exactly the same problem and like Boskaz, it worked fine for a few days and now won't connect.

Great find Dmitry.  Amateur hour over at LinkedIn. How can a company of that size allow their certificates to expire and why did they only buy a certificate for one year?

Would it be possible to post instructions to accept the expired certificate using Fiddler? Thanks in advance!

Apparently:

LinkedIn certificate has expired here: https://outlook.linkedinlabs.com/
So Outlook fails when tries to connect.
Let's wait till LinkedIn updates it.

See http://community.linkedin.com/questions/25083/linkedin-can-not-connected-to-outlook-2013.html

Go to https://www.linkedin.com and look at the certificate Datum:

it shows as 12/19/2013 to 12/30/2016.

How can this be expired?

It is apparently AGAIN a Microsoft Problem because it was working BEFORE the updates a few days ago.

So what DID $MS change to mess things up AGAIN??

Any thoughts?

Here comes the best:

Office 365 can connect to LinkedIn

Office 2013 under Accounts is connected with LinkedIn

Office 2013 under Contacts can NOT CONNECT TO LINKEDIN

Hmmm, LinkedIn problem?? I don't think so.

Hi, same here.
Me too, noticed it yesterday

Ditto. Wonder if LinkedIn has a cert that expires every middle of April...

Doug, looks like it really. if the outlook.linkedinlabs.com really is used by the connector then the expiration theory makes sense as the current certificate was valid till April 19th 2014 (and started April 18th 2013....)

LinkedIn in their infinite wisdom has posted this:

Whats happening to LinkedIn for Outlook Social Connector?

Last Reviewed: 03/04/2015 Expand All Collapse All

At LinkedIn, we want to provide a simple and useful experience for our members. Sometimes that means we need to retire older features, so we can better invest those resources in building new, great LinkedIn products. As of March 2015, we no longer support LinkedIn for Microsoft Outlook Social Connector.

Outlook Social Connector was available only for Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010.

  • Note: Any contact information that you have locally synced in Outlook will remain in Outlook, but it will no longer be updated.
