Outlook Room finder not working in Office 2013

Hi,

we are seeing the following behaviour in our exchange 2013 environment.

With outlook 2010 clients the room finder works fine and you can see all the room distribution lists.

In outlook 2013 the room distribution list dropdown is not present

We can select the rooms via the rooms button, the rooms distribution lists can be added as a required attendee and freebusy information for the list is shown in the scheduling assistant.

If you expand the distribution list you see free/busy information for ALL rooms fine.

The issue occurs either in cached mode or online.

OWA works as expected and outlook 2010 also works as expected.

Tearing my hair out here :)

Thanks

Shawn

Hi,

According to your description, I understand that Outlook Room finder not working in Outlook 2013, however it works in Outlook 2010.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I want to double confirm whether all Outlook 2013 client or some special user experience this question.
Note: please upgrade Outlook to latest version to double check.

In order for the Room Finder feature to work, the OAB must be generated by Exchange server.
Please run Get-OfflineAddressBook | FL Identity,Server to double check OAB generation server.
Also, run Get-OabVirtualDirectory | FL to check URL for current OAB VD and force update OAB.
Run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration and manually download OAB to get more details about your question.
Please post related error message, its more helpful for further troubleshooting.

Additional, I find an similar thread about your question, for your reference:

Thanks

Hi,

I have run the commands above and got no errors, as I said above the functionality works fine in outlook 2010.  the Offline address book downloads without error.

I have already been through the steps in the article you provided - the rooms are in a rooms distribution list and as stated above the room finder works fine in outlook 2010.  The issue is only with outlook 2013.  I have tested with both our corporate install and with an office 365 click to run instance of outlook 2013 and see the same behaviour with both installs.  To me this suggests that the issue is potentially an exchange configuration issue??

The issue occurs for ALL users of outlook 2013 and no users of outlook 2010

Hi,

Please follow these steps: -

If RoomFinderShow = 0 under registry path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences

The Room Finder behaves the following ways when you start Outlook: -

  • The Room Finder is not shown by default on the Appointment tab.
  • You can manually enable the Room Finder on the Appointment tab.
  • If you open a new meeting from after enabling the Room Finder in another meeting room, the Room Finder is not shown by default on the Appointment tab of the new meeting form.
  • If you manually enables and then disable the Room Finder on the Appointment tab, nothing is written into the registry.

When you have the required update installed and RoomFinderForceDisabled=1, Outlook will not display the Room Finder pane on either the Scheduling Assistant tab or the Appointment tab in a meeting form.

Hi,

I may not have been as clear as I intended.  you can see the room finder, it just isn't working correctly.  The dropdown list that lets you select the room distribution list you wish to use disappears and in the suggested times box you have the message Suggestions cannot be provided because free busy data could not be retrieved.

The rooms distribution lists DO show free busy information when they are added into the meeting as an attendee and each room shows free/busy information if the distribution list is expanded.

The room finder works correctly in office 2010.

Hello together,

...same problem here with Outlook 2013.

With Outlook 2010 everything is working fine and i can work with Roomlists/Room Finder normally.

Looks like a Bug with Outlook 2013: (Version 15.0.4701.1000 32bit)

Any news about that?

Best,

Martin

Hi,

Basic on my testing, it cant be a bug in Outlook 2013.
Please run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration to ensure get the collect OAB URL, also double check the configure for Room finder.
