Outlook PST repair Tool
A pst looks like it needs repairing however the pst file is 5 GB large. Everytime I click ok to fix the pst file after it does the CRC check, it crashed. Is there anyway to reduce the size of the PST file so the repair tool wont crash?

You can split a large PST file by using Move To Folders option easily but this method doesn't work with Outlook 2010 You can also Archive the pst file, Here are the some steps mentioned in details to perform the task of reducing the size of PST file http://www.filerepairtools.com/tips/how-to-split-large-pst-file-safely/

Hello,

As you want to repair your PST file but you cannot do so because of its larger size, then its not a big problem as you apply following things to your PST file in order to reduce its size,

1. You can compact your PST file, which removes the white space & reduces the size of your PST file.
2. You can split your PST file.
3. Or else if all the above fails, then you can also try a tool to compact your PST file. The third party tools extract the attachments from all your mails & reduces its size effectively. Then you can easily run scanpst.exe to repair your file.

You can reduce the size of the PST file either by compressing or splitting a PST file.In your case ,issue is corruption in the PST file.so you need to first repair it then apply any compression and splitting process on the repaired file.

If scanpst fails then you can try any third party repairing tool but they are not free at all.
