Outlook Offline Address Book is not updated...Pre-Exchange 2010 Upgrade
I currently have one Exch 03 FE and two Exch 03 BEs. OAB is not updating in either Outlook 07 and 2010 acrossing company wide. I have followed common troubleshooing steps including, rebuilt OAB in ESM, deleted OAB files from user profile, re-downloaded OAB with checked/unchecked since last send/receive option in Outlook....etc. In ESM, only one 'default Global Address List', and if i do a preview, this list is current. I have two OAB, one is default and all mail stores are associated to this one correctly. However, the other OAB (not as default) was created when the previous IT tried to set up Exchange 2010 on a new server - the server is currently shutdown so we're not using any Exch 2010 feature, I assumed. I'm not sure if the second OAB has cuased the problem even though we're not using it - I doubt. I must still have missed something here. Please advise. Thanks CC

The OAB which is not default should not cause any issue !! -- 1. How to turn up diagnostic logging in Exchange 2003 A. Open the Servers container. B. Right click and select properties. C. Select the Diagnostics Logging Tab. D. Under Services select 'MSExchangeSA'. E. Under Categories select 'OAL Generator'. F. Select Maximum and click ok. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dgoldman/archive/2005/07/16/how-to-troubleshoot-the-oab-generation-process.aspx Check do we see any Events ? Hello, Firstly, please check all the mailbox database settings and make sure the default OAB is set to the Exchange 2003 OAB object. After that, you can check the application log on the OAB generation server to see if there are any error events about the OAB generation or downloading. Thanks, Simon

I have made sure... all mailbox databases are pointed to the default OAB, and set the OAL Generator logging to maximum. Ran rebuid on the default OAB, found one error, then I corrected it for that entry. Ran rebuild again and no error was logged in application log.deleted OAB from my computer... but still no luck. Will dig more on the site provided by Satheshwaran. Thanks CC

I have missed to provide one piece of critical information: the newly added users will show up properly in OAB, but the disabled users with the "hide from Exchange address lists" checked are failed to removed from the OAB - not sure how longer ago the problem started. Thanks CC
