Outlook OWA and single site CAS
All, I have a site with a single AD and two exchange 2007 servers. The second server has one mailbox on it that can send and receive email fine. I want the users to have one URL for OWA and ActiveSync which I understand should work. The problem I have is that when I try and use OWA I get the error "There is no Microsoft Exchange Client Access server that has the necessary configuration in the Active Directory site where the mailbox is stored". I have looked into this but can't find a resolution and so I am looking for help/advice. All other posts seem to relate to sites with 2 or more AD's but this is a single AD site and that why I'm purplexed, it should just work, shouldn't it? The roles are as follows; Server 1 (hosting OWA): Mailbox, Client Access, Hub Transport Server 2: Mailbox, Client Acess, Hub Transport Should I remove the role "client access" from the second server? Any help would be appriciated Thanks Andrew

hi, have you tried creating a cname for the cas servers ? let the cname reference the fqdn of the cas servers. then use that cname as the url for the owa and active sync. PS: cnames (alias) are created in dns.

A CAS server will not proxy for another mailbox server when it also has the mailbox role, it refers, which defeats your single URL desire and will likely really foul up access from the Internet. I believe the answer to your question is for you to build a CAS-only server (or CAS+HT, but no MB) and use that server for your desired single URL. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Hi, I agree with Ed. Please have a look at the article below: How Exchange Server 2007 CAS Proxying works for Outlook Web Access (OWA) http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/09/10/446957.aspx Regards, Xiu
