Outlook Losing connection with Exchange 2003
I have a strange issue that I HOPE some of you may have seen before and might be able to help me out. First my PC here in the office looses it's connection to the exchange server(2003) every single night around Midnight(Im guessing)When I leave for the day and If I leave my machine up.. I come back in the AM and I see that I am Offline. I see a message that the last update was at midnight. If I close outlook(2007) and reopen it I am still unable to connect to the server. The ways I have found to fix this are, to either reboot the pc or simply log off of windows and log back in. When I do this I am able to open outlook and connect to the server.I have another issue similar as well.. I have a user that is having a similar problem but he loses his connection sporadically. When he shows offline, he can hit send receive, outlook prompts for his EXCH Password and he is able to send and receive his mail. Does anyone have any ideas what I can check on my machine and his?

Make sure you have not added any Outlook addins and verify your OL profile if it is configured using MAPI? or RPC/HTTP? if so then also investigate if all users has this issue? if all users are affected then it is not your outlook. you need to check the DNS settings or run dcdiag/netdiag commands on server also check for dsaccess errors. if it is with couple of users then let the ping command run continuousy towards exchange just to make sure that the packets are not dropping. and create brand new outlook profile Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

If that were the case they would be calling me every morning saying they cant get in to Outlook. I am the only one that I know that is having this problem. I really do not know what all was done to this PC prior to me taking this position. I did find a note about it from the guy who previously held my position, I guess he just lived with it. I can live with it too it is just annoying.. I have run a constant ping for about 5 or so minutes to the XServer with no problem. There is just something that happenes around midnightish that causes the connection to be dropped. What is odd, I can not get it back unless I log off windows... Like this morning, I came in and had a message that the connection to exchange was lost and it would connect when avalable.. I think there was also a time stamp if 12:02 AM when the folder was last updated.. I closed outlook and reopened it with no success. I tried to redo my mail settings and I got messages saying that the Xserver was not avalable.. I log off windows and back on and I am good to go..I wonder if there is an addin or something running.. I don't think so.. At least I cant see anything.. It is jsut a very strange issue...

Hi,Try re-creating a new outlook profile and check for a day and see if still issues persists. If that did not work try uninstalling TCP/IP and Install again and checkRegards,Krishnahttp://smtpport25.wordpress.com
