Outlook Calendar default posting options

My users have said that up until recently some of them when they double click a day in the calendar it opened in Meeting view not appointment view. Apparently New Meeting view already has the to field for inviting people and if it s a room calendar they said if its a room calendar it would already have the room calendar filled it. I've never really scheduled many meetings so I have never noticed this. Is there a way of defaulting which way it opens in Outlook calendar. We use Office 2013 and Exchange 2010.

I've found if I go to properties of my or the room calendar there is an option called When posting to the folder use: and it has a drop down I can change from appointment to meeting request but when I try it I get "You cannot crate an item of this type in this folder

We are supposed to get the error message when we try to change the default form used in "When posting to the folder, use:" option. There is no option to change calendar to use meeting request form as the default one.

First, I'd like to ask whose calendar the user is double-clicking on. If the user is double-clicking on a shared calendar that he dont have "create" permissions, it will open a meeting request.

In addition, please make sure the user is not in Schedule View when double-clicking on the calendar. In this case, it will also open a meeting request.

Please feel free to let me know if I've misunderstood something.

Its actually a Room calendar, the user has Editor with create permissions. As a test I gave my account owner permissions and for the room calenders it still comes up as appointment vs meeting as they want it. Its not in schedule view though I did try that.
