Outlook Anywhere authentication method automatically changed
My company runs an Exchange 2007 (SP1) server and Outlook 2007 clients. I want our Outlook Anywhere users to use NTLM authentication. However, a few days after configuring their clients to use NTLM authentication, users will report that they are prompted repeatedly to enter their passwords. When I check their settings, I see that their authentication method has automatically been changed to basic authentication. Below is the output of the Get-OutlookAnywhere command in Exchange Management Shell.ServerName : HQMAILSVRSSLOffloading : FalseExternalHostname : mail.company.orgClientAuthenticationMethod : NtlmIISAuthenticationMethods : {Ntlm}MetabasePath : IIS://HQMAILSVR.company.org/W3SVC/1/ROOT/RpcPath : C:\WINDOWS\System32\RpcProxyServer : HQMAILSVRAdminDisplayName : ExchangeVersion : 0.1 (8.0.535.0)Name : Rpc (Default Web Site)DistinguishedName : CN=Rpc (Default Web Site),CN=HTTP,CN=Protocols,CN= HQMAILSVR,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Gr oup (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN= company,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configu ration,DC=company,DC=orgIdentity : HQMAILSVR\Rpc (Default Web Site)Guid : e7a86527-beaa-4c51-99f2-a2fa80306759ObjectCategory : company.org/Configuration/Schema/ms-Exch-Rpc-Http-Virtual-DirectoryObjectClass : {top, msExchVirtualDirectory, msExchRpcHttpVirtualDirectory}WhenChanged : 3/1/2009 12:48:17 PMWhenCreated : 3/1/2009 12:29:10 PMOriginatingServer : hq_filesvr.company.orgIsValid : TrueWhen I test AutoConfiguration in Outlook, I don't receive any error messages. However, the value of "Auth Package" is "Unspecified" for both Exchange RPC and Exchange HTTP.I have been trying to fix this issue for weeks to no avail. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Hi,Pleaseensure the Integrated Windows Authentication was checked under RPC virtual directory in IIS.Whether the ISA server or any firewall was deployed in your environment? Please run get-outlookprovider -Identity EXPR |fl command in EMS, then post the information on the forum.ThanksAllen
