Outlook Anywhere and OAB Issues
hi Guys, Im running out of ideas, hoping someone could give me some help. Various users are mentioning that they cannot connect to the exchange via outlook (outlook anywhere) - it prompts for password and then says that its trying to connect to the exchange server. Iv had these two errors come up and the information store stopped today, these errors came after: OALGen failed to load the offline address book version 4 manifest file '\\EX001\ExchangeOAB\82ad3b05-9578-47b4-98b0-199d54fb3f7b\oab.xml'. This indicates data tampering or disk problems. Restore files in this folder from the recent backup or clean up folder content and force a full OAB generation. OALGen could not generate full details for some entries in the offline address list for address list '\Global Address List'. To see which entries are affected, event logging for the offline address list generator must be set to at least medium. - Default Offline Address Book I have just run the following, and get these results: [PS] C:\Documents and Settings\rl\Desktop>Test-OutlookWebServices -Iden tity rl@xx.com | fl Id : 1003 Type : Information Message : About to test AutoDiscover with the e-mail address rl@xx.com Id : 1013 Type : Error Message : When contacting https://autodiscover.xx.com/autodiscover/aut odiscover.xml received the error The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. Id : 1006 Type : Error Message : The Autodiscover service could not be contacted. there is a DNS entry which is: Alias (CNAME) Alias name (FQDN): autodiscover.xx.com FQDN for target host: mail.xx.com ANY IDEAS? Are they related? HELP!

Does OWA work? What you're describing indicates that multiple IIS-based services aren't working, indicating perhaps a misconfigured or expired certificate, or misconfigured authentication settings.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi, First, please check the authentication of the Outlook Anywhere on the Client Access Server, confirm the client authentication method is Basic authentication. Also please open IIS, find the RPC, right click it and in the Directory Security, please make sure the Basic authentication is checked. Please assure that Basic authentication has been checked in OAB and EWS. For more information about authentication of Outlook Anywhere, please refer to the following article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430792.aspx If the issue persists, please run ExBPA and verify whether any problem can be detected. If so, please post it here. Thanks. NovakPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
