Outlook Anywhere Won't Enable
I'm very new to the whole exchange environment. I am trying to to get Outlook Anywhere rolling so that people have access to the their mail accounts through outlook. Some people don't want to use OWA and a few have a MAC. When I enable outlook anywhere through the EMC I get this.....Summary: 1 item(s). 0 succeeded, 1 failed. Elapsed time: 00:00:00 EXCH-WEB-CEVSD Failed Error: The Active Directory object for virtual directory 'IIS://mail.domain.oh.us/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Rpc' on 'SERVER' could not be created. This might be because the object already exists in Active Directory. Remove the object from Active Directory, then re-create it. I uninstalled the RPC Proxy and reinstalled it. Nothing works. Where is this VD at? In the IIS manager there is an RPC VD but it comes and goes with the RPC Proxy. Thanks

Sure do. It's not the problem of creating anything in AD though. I need to remove the VD but can't find it. Either that or it is something else altogether. The closest thing to that VD that it states in the error is an RPC and RPCwithCert VD in the IIS manager.

How many exchange server do you have? do you also have any exchange 2003 FE servers which is already Outlook Anywhere enabled. Normally RPC VD will be stored in IIS under Default Website. Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Sorry. I should have made it more clear. It is just one Exchange 2007 running on server standard 2008. I have deleted the RPC VD under the IIS default website and uninstalled and reinstalled the RPC Proxy but still no luck. There are no other outlook servers.

Hi,1. First please try tobrowse Https://server/rpc/rpcproxy.dll inside the network, credential window will pop up and you need to type the user name and password. Normally, we will get a blank page. 2. Please run get-outlookanywhere |fl and ExBPA, then post the report here. To confiqure u need to do in two partpart 1--you have to creat public DNS record like Autodiscover or SRV.....Part 2- install RPC over HTTPS and enable outlook anyware One major bug in 2008 is addressed in this below URLhttp://blog.aaronmarks.com/?p=65For 2003----http://www.exchange-genie.com/2008/02/configuring-outlook-anywhere-for-exchange-2007-sp1/

I log in as that other admin account and boom, thestore is there and Outlook Anywhere enables. Something has messed with the factory administrator acccount for all I cantell. Any ideas? Thanks
