Outlook Anywhere 2010 keeps asking for un/pass after Windows Update
I'm afraid I made a mistake and installed Windows Update yesterday (November 9). Since then I cannot connect via Outlook Anywhere to Exchange Server. I'm using Outlook 2010. Smarter people in my organization than me didn't install yesterday's update and they can still connect to their mail. Please provide assistance promptly as this is affecting my work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you find out what updates were installed and then remove them, ask your admin You can try the below - http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/4d70947e-21b1-4a45-9d78-a7198ed55cca I'm sure there's some msi logs file and windonws update file that will tell you. Check this key too -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W indows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\Results\Install Then remove the update.Sukh

I am not aware of any updates yesterday that would cause this problem. Therefore I wouldn't call those who haven't installed the updates "smarter". I have installed the update across a very large deployment of Outlook 2010 which is using Outlook Anywhere and it hasn't caused an issue, therefore the fact that you installed updates I would say is a coincidence. Have you checked the obvious things such as your password hasn't expired? That can stop Outlook Anywhere from connecting. In fact there are more things that are completely unrelated to the updates that would cause a problem. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

I've tried removing updates but that didn't help. Tried changing all parameters around Outlook Anywhere with no success. There are no helpful alerts/errors in computer's log neither. I can connect to my web mail with same un/pass, so I don't think this is the cause of the issue. Our sys admin says that no changes were done on server side and I know that I didn't change anything on my computer (apart from Windows Updates that were installed). It basically just stopped working.

Have you changed your password recently? In the users applet in control panel, do you have any cached credentials, remove them and try. If you can, create a new windows profile and test.Sukh

If the issue continues after System Restore, the issue is not caused by he hotfix you installed on Nov.9. if this is the case, collect the information I mentioned in the following for further analysis: Verify the application event log in your machine to see if there is any error recorded. At the same time, ask your admin check the IIS log to see if there is any logon attempt of you and what is the error code. what is the error message you received and when did you receive it. from Outlook profile, copy the external domain you use to connect Outlook Anywhere, try the URl https://yourexternaldomain/rpe/rpcproxy.dll in IE to see if there is any error (the expected result is a blank page). Thanks. Best Regards Fiona Liao E: v-fiolia@microsoft.com
