Outlook 2013 with outlook.com Office 365 not showing today's messages

Since a couple of weeks I experience this very annoying issue where suddenly the message of "today" are not available any more. I'm working normally, then suddenly they disappear. Symptoms:

- No message of "Today" is show in the Inbox. They do appear in the web interface outlook.com

- Sometimes the messages are still visible in the overview, but not preview of the message is shown in the "Reading Pane" instead there is an error message:

"Sorry, we're having trouble opening this item. This could be temporary, but if you see it again you might want to restart Outlook."

- When I have one of "todays" messages open and try to save an attachment I get a warning that this is not possible: http://i.imgur.com/037amrd.png

The issue resolves itself after a couple of times restarting outlook and syncing? I haven't found a reproduce-able way yet.

I'm using Outlook 2013 with Exchange (Office 365 Small business Premium).

Thanks for help, I'm willing to try / search myself so any help is appreciated!

Have you tried switching between cached and Online mode? Or just recreating the profile? What is the size of the mailbox, or the local copy if you are using cached mode?

Hi,

According to your description, I noticed that the issue doesn't happen in OWA. The message of Today do appear in the web interface.

If that is the case, please refer to Vasil's suggestion to narrow down the issue to Outlook Online mode or Cached mode. If the issue doesn't occurs in Online mode, the issue may be related to the currupted Outlook profile. We can create a new Outlook profile and check whether the issue persists.

If the issue continues in both Online mode and Cached mode, please start Outlook in safe mode to disable all third-party add-ins and check whether the issue can be reproduced in safe mode. If that is the cause, we can enable the disabled add-ins one by one to find out the exact cause. For more information about how to re-enable add-ins, please refer to Re-enabling COM add-ins one-by-one part in the following KB:

Thanks!

Local Data Total Size: 2,825,447 KB

Server Data total Size 3,235,432 KB

I've switched to online mode and then back to cached mode all. Let's see if the problems appears again...

Update: Unfortunately the problem is still there and seems to be getting worse, not only today's emails

disappear, but all emails from the last week, the do come back quickly.

Any other ideas? I guess I have to recreate the profile? Does this re-download all messages?
