Outlook 2013 signature issues

Hi,

This is my first time posting.

As the title suggests I am having problems with signatures in Outlook 2013.  When Outlook is started in Normal Mode, no HTML signatures will show, all you can see is an outline of where the signature should be, it is not just my signature that is doing this it is any HTML signature that is attached to an email that I receive.  However when Outlook is started in Safe Mode, the signatures are fine and display as they should be.  I have gone through the settings in Outlook and gone through the Add-ins as well, I have also tried repairing Office, both Quick and Full, when that failed to resolve the issue, I then un-installed and re-installed Office.

It is still doing the same thing, so any help would be much appreciated

Hi Jee,

As a quick fix, check the following:

Open any email message, click File, click Options - Mail - Editor Options - Advanced, under "Display e-mail content" section, make sure the option "Show picture placeholders" is not selected.

----------------------------- if that doesn't work, go to next section ------------------------

Now that you said this behavior won't occur when start Outlook in safe mode, let's try to narrow down the cause refer to the following table that is a partial list of the temporary changes that occur when you start Outlook in safe mode.

Hi Max,

Thanks for your reply, I have checked the Picture Placeholder settings, Add-ins, Macros, Customized Toolbars, Navigation Pane and the default colours/fonts.

I will check the rest when I have a chance and get back to you.

It seems we need to make sure the option "Show picture placeholders" is not selected under both the options in:

  • when we composing a message
  • when we read a message

I was looking for a solution for a client's Outlook 2013 for -hours- and finally stumbled upon a solution. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Office it is possible the signature is not encoded in HTML.

This is what worked for me: For a forwarded message I had to have it pop out >look for a tab that reads format text select HTML. Then hover your mouse over your signature, right click and select the desired sig. This action changes the formatting of the sig from Plain Text to HTML.

Now copy your sig (now HTML formatted) and paste it as your signature (effectively replacing your old sig), then save it.
