Outlook 2013 no longer allows me to sign emails

Hi all,

I could sign emails on Wednesday, then on Thursday I get an error stating that there are no certificates that contain my email address.

Have tried a new profile, deleting and re-importing the certificate.  And please don't ask me to check that encryption is off, because it was never on and is still off.  I only sign.

Regards,

Bruce

Does this issue happen with all emails you want to sign or just emails sent to certain recipients?

From the error you provided, it's more likely that the certificate doesn't contain the recipient's email address. Do the following steps:

  • Open the Certificate window by double-clicking the certificate file on your hard drive.
  • On the General tab, make sure that this certificate is intended for the contact in question. If not, select the certificate you want to import.

If this issue happens to all emails, it's more likely that the certificate is invalid or expired. You can then try using another certificate to see the result.
