Outlook 2013 fails to send/recieve and IE fails after Windows Update

Hi there,

This am I followed the Windows Update and allowed it to re-start my machine (17/08).  After doing this the following happened:

1. IE fails to load any pages (but Chrome is unchanged).

2. Outlook runs as normal but send/receive fails immediately - for all 3 mail accounts.

I have:

1. Checked with my ISP (Vodafone NZ) - there have been no changes to ports or production issues.

2. Both internet mail and ipad mail clients work as normal across all 3 account (Yahoo, Gmail and Vodafone).

3. We have switched off Windows firewall - no change

4. We cannot download a support application to take over my screen.

So am now "Stuck" for email via Outlook.

Any clues please?

By guesswork - I turned off my Norton Premmier firewall, and both IE and Outlook now perform as expected.  I did a chat with the Norton support and they have suggested a re-install.  So now am running with only a Windows Firewall....  Not very acceptable understanding though of why it happened?

Hi,

From your description, I assume that the issue is related to the settings of Norton.

Try add IE and Outlook to the trust list of programs in Norton and check the result.

Since its a Norton setting problems, you could go to Norton support to get more details.
