Outlook 2013 contacts list missing

When I look down my contact list contacts are missing, I do a search and they are there but not on my contacts list?  I am unable to add them, gives me a message this contact already exsits.

Thanks.

Hey Remwhirl,

It sounds like you may have inadvertantly filtered your contacts. Try the following:

  1. Open your contacts folder
  2. Click the View tab on the file bar
  3. Click Reset Current View

This will remove any filters that were applied.

Try clicking on "Name only" under the SEARCH after hitting To: , "More Columns" hides the names.

We are having this problem.  Did you ever find a solution that worked?  We also have many years of contact information, and much of it has inexplicably disappeared.  The "PEOPLE" portion of Outlook 2013 just plain sucks.

#1 - You asked "Did you ever find a solution that worked?" - this thread has been marked as "answered" and one person responded acknowledging a solution that worked. In this kind of scenario, you are far more likely to have "more people" view a thread if you started a new one since many people skip over older "answered" threads

#2 - Would be far more productive if you provided background info regarding your specific situation like
a) disappeared from where? and what exactly do you mean by "much of it has inexplicably disappeared" - specifically - do you mean complete contact items are missing or you're looking for specific data within a contact item?
b) is this an upgrade from a previous version or a new install?
c) how many different contact folders are involved?
d) type of email account to which these contacts belong (POP3, Imap, Outlook.com, Exchange etc)
