Outlook 2013 constantly updating address book even with Cache enabled
I am currently running Outlook 2013 with cache mode enabled with Exchange 2010. The address book is constantly updating. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Hi,

Check how often the OAB is updated on Exchange and also check the client settings to find out how often it'll check. I think this is 24hrs by default but there may be policies or custom settings in place for this. Check the send/receive group settings also.

On Exchange, it may be worth checking the application event log to find out if there are any issues generating the OAB.

Thanks.

If it cant complete, that tells me there may be client anti-virus or some other client service or add-in interfering with the OAB download.

Also check whether any proxies are causing problems. If so, you may need to set the OAB URL to bypass the proxy.

Thanks.

Hi,

Does this issue continue if we configure the email account on another computer?

We can first try to disable firewall and Anti-virus program to see if this issue persists.

If above doesn't applies, please also try deleting the OAB file and let it download a new one. To do this, please follow:

1. Exit Outlook.

2. Browse to the .oab file under:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

3. Rename .oab file to .old.

4. Restart Outlook.

Please let me know the result.

Hi Sam,

Any updates for your issue? Have you tried the suggestion above?

If the issue persists, please click Send/Receive tab in Outlook, click Send/Receive Groups > Download Address Book. Then confirm whether there is any error in the process.

Also confirm whether other users encounter this issue. If the issue only happens to one specific user, please create a new Outlook profile and reconfigure this account in Outlook to have a try.

You should also check you can open the URL from the client. Press ctrl then right click the Outlook icon in the notification area and click "Test E-mail AutoConfiguration". Untick all options except for "Use Autodiscover" and then review the OAB URLs listed. For each URL, check you can open it using Internet Explorer. You should be presented with an XML document.

Have you recently rebuilt the OAB? Do you use a proxy server?

Thanks.
