Outlook 2013 and username password prompt for authenticating to exchange on Windows 10
I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 and my outlook isn't working properly.  I use outlook to connect to my corporate Exchange server and my pc is not on the domain.  I was prompted for username and password on Windows 8.1 when I launch Outlook 2013 but since the upgrade to Windows 10, I don't have that option.  It opens a windows security windows with connecting to xxx@xxx.com and stays there.  Never prompting me for a username and password.   Hope someone can guide me in the right direction in getting this resolved.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your question.

We could check authentication on Window 10 to check if it is consistent with Exchange server side, we could check outlook authentication by the following steps:

  1.        Navigate to File->Account Setting->Account Setting ->Email->User Account-> More setting->Connection->Exchange Proxy Setting
  2.        then check "Proxy authentication setting", check if it is consistent with Exchange server side

if it is consistent,we could disable A/V and firewall on Window 10 client to check if the issue persist. we could run SFC /ScanNow to check if the issue persist.

You could also post snapshot to us for troubleshooting or post this issue to outlook forum to ask for help.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Jim

Hello Jim,

So all settings are properly set on the Windows 10.  Looks identical to the Windows 7 outlook client.

Here is a screenshot:

So basically I hit the "type exchange password and connect"  I get the connecting and there isn't a location on the prompt to type in my username and password

I did a workaround by using windows credentials from manage your credentials settings but that only work on the initial setup and re-download all the email by recreating the profile which isn't very useful and cumbersome.  After disconnecting and reopening outlook it happens again.  I think the lack of username password enter option is causing this issue.

Also ran SFC /scannow came back clean.

Hi Steve,

By my understanding, this issue could be caused by Window 10, we could update Window 10 to the lasted update, then disable firewall for testing to check if the issue persist.

In addition, we could refer to the following link:

I have gone to the latest update.  Could you try to do the same on your side?

Windows 10, not on domain, Outlook 2013 connecting to Exchange 2013, and see if you get a username password window to type it in?
