Outlook 2013 PST issues
Hi I have a large (6gb) pst that I want to split into smaller files. The file dates from 2005 so has been through a few upgrades ! The pst opens fine in outlook but when I try to copy messages out of the pst I get a 'Cannot move the items' error. I have run scanpst on the file multiple times and it is not resolving the issue. The scanpst log file is approx 4mb and includes multiple (hundreds...) of !!AMap page <@XXXXXXX> has csFree of YY, but should have ZZ ??BBT entry (BBBBBB) has different refcount in RBT (C vs D) And !!Adding message (nid=AAAAAA) back to the database messages (Where XXXXXX, YY, ZZ, C, D, BBBBBB and AAAAAA) are numbers/hex I have also tried opening outlook with various switches but the problem remains Do I have any options but to spend $150+ on a 3rd party product to fix this ?? Hi David,

If you configured your email account use Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol, check the solution in the following support article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781261

If your issue is other then that, try the following:

  • Move or copy less items in the same time.
  • Exclude the items with problem.
  • Cleanup your mailbox. (Remove the useless items - advertisements, duplicate items with large attachments)

Hi Max

1. Not configured with EAS

2. I could move some emails from the top (most recent) and bottom (oldest) to another pst but i am unable to copy any other items (either individually or multiple at the same time)

3. As 2 - all remaining items in my inbox seem to have the problem...

4. I can try this as a last resort but any reason why it would work ??

thanks

David

Hi David,

2. I don't quite follow, if you can move emails from top to the bottom, is there still anything left?

3. How many items remain there?

  • Anything special about these remain items?
  • Can we copy these items in the same folder?
  • Can we copy these items to the other folder?
  • Can we save these items as .msg files?

Can we make a copy of the .pst file? (I know this could be a great deal of work considering the file size. Which I would also suggest that we'd better to keep the file size under 2GB for each .pst file.)

And then, can we move items in the

Hi Max I could only move a few emails - maybe 2 or 3% of the total - nothing else will move 60000+ messages remain. Nothing special or unique about them. They won't copy to a new pst I tried dumping them out with mfcmapi and they do (mostly) seem to export. Some error appear during the export The reason for trying to move the messages was to get the size down.... Thanks David

If you want to split your PST file into smaller files, then you may take help either of "Archive feature" or "Move to folder feature". These two features are very helpful in splitting an oversized PST file. There is an article written on EzineArticles: <http://ezinearticles.com/?PST-Splitter:-How-to-Split-Outlook-PST-File&id=7489499>

It will show you how to split PST file into smaller files manually. If you won't be able to split PST file by these ways, then you may try a third-party PST splitter. I can recommend you SysInfoTools PST Split software to split oversize PST files. Try its free demo version.

Good luck.

See if this blog can be helpful here: "How to break or divide an oversized PST file into multiple parts". Yesterday I read this blog on WordPress. There are three different ways mentioned in this blog to split a large sized .pst file into multiple parts.

Thanks.
