Outlook 2013 Global Address List not updating in cached mode

The Global address book in not updating for all users in cached mode in Outlook 2013 or anyone using Outlook

Looking at the Exchange server 2010

In the folder location
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB\{ID}
the LZX files are created everyday until 9th July 2015 when a problem started.

In the exchange mangament console under organization configuration, mailbox and Offlince address book the Default Offline address book has not been modified since 09 July 2015

If I manually right click Update I get a error message.

Action 'Update' could not be performed on object 'Default Offline Address Book'.

Default Offline Address Book
Failed
Error:
Failed to generate the content of the offline address book '\Default Offline Address Book'. Two possible reasons for the failure are that the System Attendant Service is not running or you do not have permission to perform this operation. Error message : 'Error 0x6d9 (There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper) from RpcEpResolveBinding'.

Error 0x6d9 (There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper) from RpcEpResolveBindin

When searching for this issue others suggested looking for the Service called Exchange System Attendant, but the System Attendant service is not listed in services.

My Environment is Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.

Please advise on what to try.

I believe you are having roles on different servers,

Check mailbox server role for system attendant services.

CAS server only holds file distribution service

I'm sure your right but be a little more specific on where to look.
We have a server for exchange hub and transport.

The server hosting mailbox role has the system attendant servers. Please check on it in services.msc

Have you tried the text in bold?

I attempted to use the update OAB function in the Exchange 2010 Management Console. Basically you can look at all your OABs

and select the one you want (we only have one), right click and select update.

To fix this in Exchange Console:

a) Open Adsiedit.msc

b) Browse to Configuration, Services, Microsoft Exchange, , Address List Container, Offline Address Lists

c) Open properties of the Default Offline Address List on the right

d) Change siteFolderServer attribute to the DN of the correct Public Folder e.g.

CN=Public Folder Database,CN=Databases,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=MAIL,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=CONTOSO,DC=com

I don't follow your instructions.  What do you want to see from the ADsiedit tool? Have you got a screen print?

Test-ServiceHealth -Server ServerName

hi, that command won't work my version Exchange 2010.

 If anyone has guidance on what to check please let me know.

Forefront monitoring the mail box roles says the system is healthy.

Here is my problem again in more detail with error only with the offline address book.

Right click & update gets an error.

yes okay.

Here is command run on MBOX

And that's where it says MSExchangeSA service not running. Start it and try...

Okay thanks I successfully started service MSExchangeSA (microsoft exchange system attendant) on MBOX

I right clicked and updated the object OAB

Updated successfully.

Great.

Were nearly there.

however the client's still don't have their offline address books updated in cached mode.

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books\{ID}

If I delete the files in this directory on a client the address book is correct for around 3 minutes and then it reverts back to last month.

It takes a while to build the OAB, check the event IDs in the log on the OAB Generation Server MBOX, there should be an envent under MSExchaneSA which say OAB v4 generated successfully. Once that is done then OAB Virtual Directory on the CAS server has to Poll it and that depends on OAB Poll Interval set on that (default is I think 8 hours)...

So in short it is not the quick thing that you can check... :)
