Hi guys,

in my personal mailbox in Outlook 2013 I can search for mails in all sub folders.

In my shared mailbox I can't search for mails in the sub folders.

Hello Lynn,

it works but it's no use for me because I need my shared mailbox on my notebook if I'm not connected via VPN with the company.

I have verified this behaviour and it appears this feature is not supported on the outlook client by default, however there are some workarounds described in the articles below:

The limitations seem to arise from the search being performed locally for cached personal mailboxes as opposed to server side in the case of shared mailboxes.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

How do you open the shared mailbox in your Outlook?

Generally, if the shared mailbox is added via the Exchange email accounts Advanced tab (using the Open these additional mailboxes option) or via Auto-Mapping, there are some limitation when you are using Outlook Search option:

a. Added via Advanced tab/AutoMapped with Download Shared Folders turned off, we can search Current Folder and All Subfolders.

b. Added via Advanced tab/AutoMapped with Download Shared Folders turned on, we can only search Current Folder without all subfolders.

Therefore, if you want to search all subfolders in Cached mode, we can configure the shared mailbox as Second Exchange account with another profile in Outlook instead of opening additional mailbox in the same profile with the main account.

Additionally, here is an article about the Search Scopes in Outlook, please refer to:

The only way to be able to search subfolders is to manually add the account through the Advanced tab and not download shared folders.
