Outlook 2013 - Disable Apps for Office

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the "apps for office" button in Outlook 2013? (New email, Message ribbon tab, Apps for Office)

I have applied the 2 group policy settings available in the ADMX files (Block Apps for Office, Block the Office Store) and these are working perfectly for Word, Excel etc... however the option remains for Outlook.

Environment Details:
Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus 32bit
SP1 and latest patches
Windows 7 and Windows 8 workstation (Same behaviour)
Latest ADMX files downloaded and applied to central store in Active Directory

Thanks

Hi Melon, thanks for the feedback on this, we've been having the same issue trying to remove the Apps for Office button. Could you by chance provide a link or direct me to any external materials where it states Outlook does not have any policies or registry data to disable Apps for Outlook.  Thanks.

Regards

Pete

I have that option grayed out in my deployment but I don't remember how to do it. I did find this though in technet. try it and let me know if that is the option you needed:

To prevent users from downloading apps for Outlook from the Office Store, remove the My marketplace apps user role from the user policy in the Exchange Administration Center (EAC). To do this,

  1. In EAC, select Permissions > User roles.

  2. Select the policy and Edit.

  3. Under Other roles, clear the My marketplace apps check box.

  4. Select Save.
