Outlook 2010 will not open Excel attachments

When opening Excel attachments in Outlook 2010 (32 bit), Excel launches, but the file does not open, just a grey background.  We have tried the following:

- Disable all Add-ins (both in Outlook and Excel)

- Deleted all files from Outlook Secure Cache

- Disabled DDE

- Full remove and re-install

- Re-associated file types (.xls and .xlsx)

- Run ad Administrator and removed all COM Add-Ins

- Confirmed the following:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\shell\Open\command

Specifically, Excel 2010 use (Default) Value Data:   "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE" /dde

At this point I am out of solutions and find myself re-reading articles I have already seen.  I am about to buy a support incident, but wanted to exhaust all options here first.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Paul,

Based on your description, it seems that you have tried several methods to help you solve your issue. Does this occur when the attachment is saved locally?

I suggest you create a new profile in outlook, and test if this issue persist when opening Excel attachments.

About how to create a new profile, please refer to this KB article:

Any updates please let me know, I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.
