Outlook 2010 users can't access out of office
We have an Exchange Server 2007. I have added two users on our network with Windows 7 computer running Outlook 2010, and neither is able to access Out of Office Assistant from the desktop. Both computers get an error message saying the server is unavailable, please try again later. They can access Out of Office from the internet, and from Outlook 2003 on another computer, but not from Outlook 2010 on the new computer. Both are connected to the server and receiving incoming emails. Out of Office is apparently the only thing not working. Is there something that needs to be changed on the server?

have you configured the availibility Service on Exchange? Please start outlook press ctrl and right click the outlook icon left beside your clock in taksbar. Then you choose test autoconiguration. enter your mailaddress and press test. After this the program detects your server serrvices providing different Information such as Out Off Office, Offline Adressbook, etc. I think that your client ist posssible to detexct the out off office paramter. Please confirm this then we go further. regards Thomas Paetzold visit my blog on: http://sus42.wordpress.com

is the Autodiscover Service record saved in the DNS? The Service record looks like _autodiscover._tcp.<your domainname> Port 443 Servername of your Exchange Server. After this is done. You schould try the testexchangeconnectivity Website again. regards Thomas Paetzold visit my blog on: http://sus42.wordpress.com

Can you post the xml log from those failures? If these are domain-joined workstations, then they should be able to obtain their autodiscovery URLs from AD.

Thomas, How do I find the Autodiscover Service record in the DNS? I am not familiar with this. Thanks, Linda

If you can get availability and out of office externally likely you have configured the proper DNS records. You need to check to see whether you have an external A DNS record for autodiscover.yoursmtpdomain.com or a srv record for autodiscover. You can perform the following. from command prompt see if these resolve to your CAS servers. Run the commands when you're not connected to your internal network so it can query public DNS servers. nslookup autodiscover.simplexity.com nslookup nslookup -type=srv _autodiscover._tcp.yoursmtpdomain.com For internal your serviceBindingInformation may be incorrect or you have cert issues. Get-ClientAccessServer |fl AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri The best is to run the email autoconfig like you did and post the xml output to this list so we can pinpoint where autodiscover is failing. Just run the autodiscover test from https://testexchangeconnectivity.com and copy\paste the results. There's multiple ways to check, the easiest for now is when you go to OWA webmail are you typing in https://mail.company.com? or just http? You can also log into your CAS server, launch powershell and type get-exchangecertificate |FL You may have multiple certs so you need to find the one that has been issued by a third party.
