Outlook 2010 performs send/receive task twice
I've searched the net all over and found no other mention of this problem, so here I go. When I do a send/receive check, first I quickly get a 5 of 15 tasks completed successfully, then I get what I've set the program up for, and that's my 10 of 10 task completed successfully. If I remove all tasks for my 10 of 10, both the 5 0f 15 and the 10 of 10  disappear, but when I set up my 10 receives only again, the 5 of 15 returns as well. Is there anyway to correct this and only have a 10 of 10 send/receive task? Thanks!!!

Hello,

This usually happens due to several reasons like if you have enabled a Virus Scanner, which comes as an inbuilt feature with the Microsoft Outlook. It can also happen if you have set  send/receive interval quite short or server timeout as low.

So one by one you can check for all the three causes and overcome them with the recommended solution:

Solutions:   1. Disable Add-ins

  • Go to File-> Section Options-> Sections Add-Ins
  • From the Manage list, select the type of add-in you want to disable.
  • Click Go & proceed with the changes.
  • Restart Outlook.

2. Set Short send/receive interval

  • Go to send/receive button-> Show progress. If there are more than two tasks shown per an email account. Then interval time needs to be changed, which by default is set to 30 minutes. To check it,
  • Move to File-> Options-> Advanced-> send/receive
  • Change the Schedule an automatic send/receive every _ (more than 5 minutes) minutes.

3. Increase Server timeout.

  • Go to the Account settings. Double click on the configured file.
  • Move to the advanced settingstab.
  • Check the server time. Increase it up to 2 or 3 minutes.
    Note: Do not set it below 1 minute.

Hi,

Please start Outlook in safe mode and check whether the issue can be reproduced. If the issue doesn't happen in safe mode, please follow Clark's suggestion to disable Add-ins to have a try. About how to start Outlook in safe mode, please refer to:
