Outlook 2010 paste from other programs not working.

Hi,

Win 7 SP1 x86 w latest patches. Win lang. ENG
Outlook 2010 SP1 x86 w latest patches. Office lang. ENG
Regional (date/time and so on) settings EE (Estonia)

I have about 6 users with same conditions.

When I'm trying to copy - paste from other programs like IE9, Word, Excel I'm unable to paste into Outlook message body.
It just wont paste.
Typically, Outlook shows me "thniking circle" for a millisecond or rarely just hangs.
There are some exceptions:

1. I'm able to paste into To: field
2. I'm able to paste into Subject: field
3. I'm able to paste even into body if I copied text from Notepad.
4. I'm able to paste into body when I copied text from another email.

Additional information:

Outlook default message format "Plain text" (Rich text, HTML - does'nt matter)

What I'v tried so far and results:

1. Repair Office installation trough "Programs and features" - NO LUCK
2. Changed default paste behaviour from other programs to "keep text only" - NO LUCK
3. Used SAFE MODE - this helps, paste SEEMS WORKING correctly. Based on my knowledge, SAFE mode mainly disables Add-ins. OK.
Disabled all Add-ins in normal mode so Outlook shows that "No Active Application Add-Ins" - NO LUCK

So, I'm out of ideas. I think that this problem starts after installing Office 2010 SP1
I don't want to uninstall SP1 because for me it's not a solution (SP1 won't dissapear from the list of updates), ok.. agree, it may be
temporary solution but at the end of the day, there must be something else.

Any ideas?

Rename normailemail.dotm to .old when Outlook is closed and see if it works now.
You can find the file here;

Hi,

Tried this - unfortunately no help.
I just deleted normalemail.dotm, when I opened Outlook, it just creates new one and thats all.

Still unable to paste into body.

Hi,

I have exactly same problem with some computers after applying office sp1 to our systems.

workaround is to play with "smart copy and paste" option. if enabled disable, if disabled - enable.

but this work only for some time. and users need to change setting again frequently.

I also add that ctrl+v is not working, if i right click, and choose "keep text only" i can paste successfully but without formatting

Hello

I have same problem in several computers after installing Office 2010 SP1 - keyboard shortcuts dont work for copy/paste and mouse right click works. I have combinations Win7 SP1 x64 + Outlook 2010 SP1 x86 and Win 2008R2 SP1 + Outlook 2010 SP1 x86

2 Ideas:

1:     Try to use the copy-paste-tool Clickto (Freeware). Perhaps it will work with this one.

2:     Did you check that both instances for your copy paste action are open at the same time. I read about that issue in a forum (I'm very sorry, can't find the URL anymore :(). That user wanted to copy-paste from IE9 to Word 2010. To get that working he found out that it is needed to have both programs open otherwise Word 2010 cannot sync. with the copied contents.

Hope that will work.

I found this posted by somoene else and it SOLVED the problem.  Hope it helps someone else.

Just do this...
Why not just do this:

WORD 2010
1. Open Word, go to Backstage view (File Menu).
2. Select Options near the end (just below Help), then Add-ins on the left-hand side.
3. Select Manage Com Add-Ins at the bottom of the window that opens up, then select Go.
4. Untick Send to Bluetooth.
5. Follow the same procedure for each 2010 application

This approach  fixed my problem although the problem in my COM Add-Ins was PDF Architect Word plugin.

Once disabled, I could paste into both Word and Outlook without problems.

PDF Architect is a full-featured option to Adobe Acrobat but installing the latest version apparently caused this problem.

I am very glad I found this fix!
