Outlook 2010 Calendar not updating for all users on network

Issue: Not all calendars are updating on Network in a timely manner.

We are running Exchange Server 2007 and have upgraded to Outlook 2010.  We have a mixed environment right now with some computers using XP and others using Windows 7.

We have staff calendars and we have resources that everyone in the agency use.

What's happening is that some calendar accounts are updating immediately with staff while others are on a delay, they eventually update but it could take a full workday or so before the calendar items update.

There is no significant pattern, it doesn't matter if they are running XP or Windows 7 and it varies by person.  One day it works fine for a user then on another day they might have the delay or never experience a delay at all.

Suggestions?

Hi

Can you elaborate as to how the Calendars are not updating correctly?  Is it resource calendars or user calendars that not updating correctly?
Can you see the updates in Outlook Web Access?
Are any of the affected users in Cached Exchange Mode?
If they are in Cached Exchange Mode, are they Downloading Shared Folders?

Thanks!

We are having the same issue, though not as bad. The delay between adding the appointment and having it appear to other users' who have access to the calendar is about 15-20 minutes, or immediately if they restart Outlook.

Started after we migrated from XP and Exchange/Office '07 to Win7 and Exchange/Office '10. By default we have cached exchange mode enabled and local profiles for the users were recreated (we didn't use USMT for reasons not covered by this subforum).

Also these changes are being made from a pair of users who have delegate access to eight different users' calendars.

They are updated Correctly, but after a delay...sometimes a full day.

I have not checked Outlook web access because not are users are enabled with that feature.

Everyone is running in cached mode.

If they are in Cached Exchange Mode, are they Downloading Shared Folders?
No they are only downloading their own folder.

Are you still having the issue or have you found a resolution?  Right now things seem to be working fine, but I know it will come back again.

Was having the exact same thing when on ExchSP1. Now on SP3 its either happening within 2 minutes or not at all.

When the 20minute issue was happening I tried every combination of Outlook settings possible (cached modes, send/receive times, ext). Propagation thru OWA is fine.

We have about 70 users all on Outlook 2010.  Our Server is 2010.  about 5 -10 users started experiencing same issues as above.  We have found that Outlook is going into sort of an Offline mode.  Closing Outlook and opening it again always fixes the issue temporarily, but not for good.  One user will make changes to the shared calendars that everyone else do not see.  That user will need to close and reopen outlook and then it will update the rest of the firm.  Othertimes there are chages everyone else can see but one user.  That user just has to close and open outlook.  It sucks.

We have fixed most users by taking them off of Cached Mode.  We still have one user however that it is still happening.  Reinstalled Outlook, created a new profile, nothing is working.  Please help.

Yep I have seen this same issue, and in all cases, I have suggested for the users to run SCANPST.exe and once it's complete, the local cache is almost always the culprit.  It's especially noticeable when the users have large (in excess of 10 gig) mailboxes.

This is exacerbated when Admins who will have several VIP mailboxes opened in her client.  This all points to .OST corruption, or at least adding to this sort of issue.

Using OWA always shows current and accurate information, and switching from cached mode to non-cached mode, likewise shows correct info.

Users are reliant on cached mode and autodiscover, so disabling these is not an option.

But for those dealing with this issue, do try the SCANPST, or, close Outlook and delete the OST and force Outlook to download.  This option usually works.... for a while. :)

i think it's still not too late to dig to this issue. As i am having the same problem here in the office. our staffs here are around 120, we are using Exchange 2010 and all users are using Outlook 2010. almost half of the staff are having issues with their calendar not updating unless you close it or uncheck the cache mode in outlook, which is not a good idea.

i was quite surprise that until now, after all the search i did on the internet there were no permanent fix for this issue. I also need help/assistance with this.

here are the thing i did so far:

-recreated the profile

-scan pst done

-re-add the shared calendars (resources and shared users calendars)

- disable the cache mode in Outlook 2010 (this fixed it, but i do not consider this as a permanent resolution)

i do not know which one to check or settings to double check from our Exchange. Running out of ideas. And aside from this, we are also having issues with double booking with resources (allow conflicts of course is not checked)

Hope you guys can spare some light on this matter. TIA!

We have users experiencing the same issue.  They work at offices that connect to our core site via T1's so turning off cached mode is not a good solution.  Hopefully someone knows a workaround other than deleting the OST file periodically.
