Outlook 2010 32bit People Pane Not Working

ok, this is my situation. I have Windows 7 Pro 64b and Office 2010 32b. Using Outlook 2010 with social connector installed. I have the social connector enabled in addins. I have also reindexed my files. Still nothing shows in people pane. No emails, attachements, nothing. Just a picture.

When I search from the start menu I can search all items related to the contact so I knows its not a search issue, also, within outlook if you select the all activites button from the contact its searches and displays all information related to contact. Just nothing shows in people pane????

I have not installled LinkedIn, Myspace or Facebook addins. Just the social connector. Please help!

Hi,

Do you use exchange server? If so, you should ENABLE Cached mode in your account settings.

Try to create a new outlook profile to test.

1.    Exit Outlook.

2.    Go to Start > Control Panel > Mail.

3.    Click Show Profiles. Choose Prompt for a profile to be used.

4.    Click Add.

5.    Type a name for the profile, and then click OK.

6.    Start Outlook, and choose this new profile.

In addition, try to update Outlook Social Connector to the latest version.

Wesley,

The main reasons for the the people pane being empty like that are mentioned in this article, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976786.  In order for the feature to work you need to be running with Outlook in Cached Mode.  If you just switched from Online to Cached Mode it may take some time for the Outlook store to be indexed by the search engine.

My understanding is that only applied to exchange. The email accounts I am using are gmail and other. For the record at this time I spent three hours on the phone with microsoft support which cannot identify this issue, they have to call me back from what I understand tomorrow. Thank you for the reply Gabriel but I will have to wait for another solution.

Hi,

Try to change this registry setting:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\SocialConnector, key name RunOSC, from 0 to 1

Hope it does help.

Wesley: I'm in the same boat as you, but sometimes it brings some emails (only some)

I've just reinstalled a new PC, and got the same issue.

Did you get any answers?

I'm also seeing symptoms of some, but not all, emails not appearing in the Reading Pane.

The source of this problem may be related to the Journal function. I have already reported a defect to Microsoft whereby if a Journal entry is attached to a contact (via CTRL J) then this does not appear in the People Pane.

However I selected a contact whose emails were being displayed correctly. Then I created a Journal entry. Thereafter all subsequent emails do not appear in the Reading Pane, even after I deleted the Journal entry.

I know this sounds a little crazy. Any thoughts to back this up?

My previous post is nonsense. Do accept my apologies. Simple fact is that the People Pane only displays emails received from the contact, not sent to. This caused my confusion.

I do find it very strange that People Pane doesn't display "sent to" emails - I want to see the whole history of emails, not just half of them1

I hope I understand what you are saying correctly. I know this is an old post, and I have never posted on here before, but we are experiencing issues with the OSC as I understand above as well in our company. I did a LOT of digging online only to find that in Windows XP you will need to have the Windows Desktop Search 4.0 Update installed for the OSC People Pane to work properly.

I installed this update and restarted the computer and viola!

Link to the update: Windows Search 4.0 for Windows XP (KB940157)

Hope this helps!

Outlook 2010 (32bit) on a WinXP PC - Installing Windows Search 4.0 for WinXP (KB940157) resolved the "People Pane Not Showing Data" issue that I was experiencing today:

has anyone out there figured this out? It is very frustrating sometimes a few emails show in the people pane, then the next time you start Outlook they do not show up for the same contact.  Mostly  all of the time they do not show at all for any contact.

Not getting anywhere with Microsoft on this one.
