Outlook 2010: Shapes formatted into pictures when sent?

Hello!

It used to be possible to edit shapes in "reply" emails. For instance, if I inserted a text box in an email and sent that email, I used to be able to open that same sent email, change the text in the textbox, and forward it to someone else.

Now it seems that outlook formats shapes and text boxes into pictures after I send them, making it impossible to alter the text. So, if I create a table within a shape and send that email, outlook converts the table to a picture making it impossible to edit/update after I send it.

Is there a setting that will preserve shapes instead of changing them to pictures? I remember being able to "reply to all" on emails I sent to my team, and alter the text in the text box or table.

Thanks

Hi,

Its depended on the message format. If you use the Rich Text message format, it will keep the original controls when you send the message. To change the format to all of the new messages, you can follow the steps below:

File > Options > Mail > under Compose messages, the select Rich Text in the scroll list.

Hello,

This solution is not working. Outlook 365 keeps converting text boxes into images either if I select HTML or Rich Text.

Is there any other way to avoid this?

Thanks

Hello all,

Same thing happened to me when I have sent a text box with a long text on it to my colleague: when I had to edit it, found out it was converted to a picture. I managed however to recover my text (unformatted) which saved a lot of time: I just clicked on the picture properties (right click > Format Picture) and go to the last item in the left menu: Alt Text. I found there all my text, just copied it to a new mail and edit it.

Hope this helps.
