Outlook 2010-Gmail Sending but not receiving emails

Hello,

I have found numerous searches on this same issue but no one has answered. I'm hoping some one was able to fix this and can help me?

I upgraded my Microsoft Office to 2010 yesterday. My Outlook (2010) automatically set up my IMAP Gmail account.  I walked through the gmail setup anyway to try to see if anything was wrong but it all seems to be what it's supposed to be.

The servier info:

incoming: imap.gmail.com (Port 993)

outgoing: smtp:gmail.com (Port 587)

i have my username and password saved in there. It sends test msgs, they show up in my gmail when i log on through google. I sent a test msg to my mom, she received it immediately. When i send/receive no emails come through to outlook 2010. I have checked all the folders. They are simply staying in my gmail.com acct and not being pulled down to my outlook.

I have walked through my account settings with other users of Outlook 2010 & Gmail.. and mine are exactly the same. I'm not sure why mine is not working.

thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Tasha

None of your messages came in or only the new messages are missing?

Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook? Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus scanner. For more details see;

Additionally; Have you already applied Service Pack 1 for Office 2010? While it may not be related to your current issue, it is hghly recommended to do so to make sure we are not trying to solve an already fixed issue ;-)

Tasha & Roady,

I am having the same problem - but with the POP3 configuration.  Everything worked in Outlook 2007.  When I switched to Office / Outlook 2010 I reconfigured all of the settings carefully for gmail.  Strangely the Outlook test messages come into my designated inbox but no other mail does.   I've also experimented with changing that inbox location but it doesn't matter - still doesn't work.

To answer Roady MVP - in my case none of the old emails OR new emails are loading.  They are coming in on other computers that have Outlook 2007 - just not on the one with 2010.

I think this is a glitch with Outlook 2010.  :>(.

PS  I originally had 2010 set for IMAP and I did receive my gmail BUT the IMAP server logs off so frequently it became untenable and I was advised to switch over to POP3. That's how I know the virus scanner is not the issue (it "played nice" in that configuration and I assume that the auto updates have loaded the Service Pack.

HELP!

I have exactly the same problem with my gmail.  It's setup as Pop3 and I've checked and double-checked the setup.  Outlook actually shows that it's receiving the email down in the right bottom corner.  I can even click on it and open the email.  Also, the envelope shows up on the right corner of my windows task bar.  However, when I close it I can't find it anywhere.  Right after I upgraded to Office 10 my email with gmail worked perfectly.  It stopped about 6 days ago.  I've uninstalled and re-installed my 2 email accounts 3x and that didn't work.  I even uninstalled Office 10 and reinstalled it, but that didn't work either.

I really wish someone would help us here as I haven't been able to find help anywhere.

Thank you!

I am having a very similar problem, with one significant difference.  My basic gmail (xxxx@gmail.com) and one of my gmail-based domain (xxx@mydomain.us) email accounts are working fine in Outlook, just one of my domain emails (xxx@mydomain2.com) is not working properly.

I tried disabling my whole anti-virus suite (webroot).

I tried disabling Windows Defender (just learned that they both are running).

Help, please.  thanks.

I have always used IMAP settings with gmail for outlook.  I am having a problem with outlook 2010 where I can send emails from outlook and they are received but I do not see any new emails (none received).  When my outlook was first upgraded (2007 to 2010) it worked fine for 2 days but now no incoming mail shows up in outlook even though I see it fine in gmail.

Send/receive tests show no errors or issues and I do not have any add in's or something integrated to virus software.

All of my incoming / outgoing server settings are exactly as they were in 2007.  Outlook 2007 I had no issues for 3 years of using it.

Please help!  We are looking to upgrade our whole office and I'm a test bunny...  A resolution to this issue would be much appreciated.

I see a suggestion of using POP3 but not sure that's an actual resolution provided the comment below.

Given the age of the thread and the fact that I have exactly the same issue, one could be forgiven for thinking that this is a deliberate ploy by Microsoft to disrupt a rival.

I would be happy to be proven wrong, but the cynical veiw seems to be correct, far too often...

I had this same problem and it was frustrating.  I just fixed it and am sharing how I was able to fix my problem.

It actually was not a problem in outlook, but in my actual Gmail settings. I had messed it up myself by trying to fix another problem. This link helped me fix the problem. I hope it helps others that are having this problem.
