Outlook 2010, Windows 7 and Exchange problems with Automatic Reply in Outlook
I have tried a number of things here but to no avail. I've read the forum responses on some of the similar posts, but, too difficult... Can anyone tell me how to make the Automatic Reply feature work correctly in Outlook 2010 through exchange server? I receive email fine, everything is fine with my hosting company. I can use OOA from my OWA account but not through Outlook. Everything is enabled on the host side. Autodiscovery works. I just need to know how to make the auto reply work now... I'm a single-user with large volume email, etc. so I don't have an IT department.... Anyone??? Most thankful to anyone who can help.

Hi, IF you are using exchange 2007 or 2010 you can also apply a transport rule on server, which will also work as auto reply, give this a try : 1. In Exchange Management Console, Go to Organization Configuration---Hub Transport. On the Right pane select “Transport Rules” 2. Create a New Transport Rule, Lets name it as auto reply Rule, Under Conditions for Step1 select “sent to people” 3. Click people, add the user that you want to apply the rule for it, and click on Next 4. Under the Actions Step1 select “Send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code” 5. Under Step2 select the underlined “delivery not authorized, message refused”, a new window for bounce message opens 6. Under the Bounce Message type in the message which you want to send to end-user, click on OK and then Next 7. Ignore the exceptions and click on Next 8. Click on New. 9. Check the effec May be this helps. If not do let us know. Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Unfortunately, I do not manage the Exchange Server (a hosting company: GoDaddy.com hosts the exchange server for me) so I cannot make changes on my end and they say it is an Outlook problem. Is there any way to make autoreply work from Outlook or on my end?

Hi, Have a look into this article : http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/automatically-reply-to-messages-with-the-out-of-office-assistant-HP001232830.aspx For outlook 2010 the option is in File menu.Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Yes, the problem is that when I engage the Automatic Reply it freezes for a minute, searches for server (I assume) then tells me that it failed because it cannot reach the server (server unavailable, etc.). I get email fine from the server, calendars on server work, blackberry syncs wirelessly, etc. So, server settings seem right. Is there a bug or a fix for the bug?

Hi Rebel, We could set the automatic replies through OWA or outlook. So, what version of exchange do you use? Can you configure the oof through OWA successfully? I would also get some help from the vender, because your exchange server hosted in theirs, maybe there are some configuration or policy caused the issue. Per my known , there is no bug like it. I also use ooa on the client to make a test, seems work well. Regards! Gavin
