Outlook 2007 pst file adds nearly 2 gig in size every day - have tried everything please advise if you know the fix
Hi,
I have used outlook 2007 for several years and only recently have I had this issue. Please note that i have had someone run the inbox repair tool, I have run the compact feature to reduce the file size, am actively auto archiving older emails and deleting
almost daily old emails in both the sent items and my inbox as well as deleted items folders.
Essentially outlook is adding over 1.5G to 2g of size to the pst file every day. I have no idea why this keeps happening. I can run the compact feature often to reduce the size again but sometimes I don't have the time to do that and literrally
if my file size is 1.8g on Monday, it will be over 10 gig by the following week even If I am cleaning out the files daily and I do
not send or receive very large files on a daily basis.
As mentioned, i have used outlook the same ways for years and this has never happened before. why it is adding almost 2g of data to my pst every day?
So it appears something is causing files to replicate or somehow massively adding data to my pst file on a daily basis which then slows everything down. Does anyone have a similar issue and know what might be causing this to happen?
Any feedback would be great.

Management of PST files is strictly an Outlook thing. You should ask
the question in a forum for Outlook.

Hi Bizmarkie40,
Which version of Exchange Server do you use?
"Essentially outlook is adding over 1.5G to 2g of size to the pst file every day. "
Did you check what the items are added into the pst file?
Maybe you can also create a new pst file to check it.
As for me, Spam may cause the issue.

Thanks Frank. I apologize for the late response but I have been out of the office and not working at night much either. I should have made this clearer, I am not using an exchange server, rather its a POP3 account - we do not have a server on premise.
I have checked both the spam and junk mail folders every day and there is little there. I am not sure what else to check to determine why the file size is now growing by nearly 3-4 gig every day (it is getting worse)
again I am now forced to run the compact process daily or the file size will be well over 10Gig after just a few days. I am not sure how else to make a new copy of the pst file or check what else is in there. Confused on that.
Mark
P.S I thhought this was the outlook forum. It took me a half an hour to get here. If I am not in the right forum please provide the link to it. This entire process is very confusing
