Outlook 2007 not displaying winmail.dat contents in mail.

Hi,

We have a some users who are receiving winmail.dat rather than mime encoded html email. From my understanding of the format, these users email client (Outlook 2007) should still be able to integrate and display the information. But this is not so. We're not using Exchange.

How do I resolve this issue? Is it possible to do from my end? Why do some users receive the mime encoded html whilst others receive winmail.dat from the same email? (ie: same email sent to 2 people in the company, one gets one format whilst the other gets another)

Will upgrading to newer Outlook version help?

There are tons of google articles on this, I had a similar issue and never solved because there are so many, ultimately when we upgraded to office 2013 I think it went away. Outlook will store special codes in the winmail.dat fonts, colors, etc... Some of the articles said it could be fixed by sending the email in text instead of html format. the one user I didn't solve in outlook 2010 I think had some strange stuff in the email signature possibly a font that no one else had.

Haha...

Yeah, I've spent days trying to solve this (our CEO happens to be one of the problem users, so must fix) and read countless threads and forums on it. I even gave it to our best analyst for a few days and he couldn't solve it either.

I guess it's upgrade time, now for the next round of shoddy compatibility issues.

Unless someone else has a fix?

Tested Outlook 2013 and still doesn't display the problem emails

Does someone else have a fix?
