Outlook 2007 indexing problem for Exchange 2007 user
I recently moved a user account from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 and the user is having trouble searching for email messages. When he performs a search, the results do not display all of the correct messages. For example, he'll search for John Doe and the only messages that come up are the ones dated from the date of the migration. If he manually looks thru his messages, he can find older messages from John Doe. I have tried to delete his Outlook profile and re-create it but that didn't help. I had the user go to a different computer to try it and it does the same thing. I even tried an index rebuild but that didn't help either. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101980851033.aspx He is the only user who's having that problem.

Check info: 1. The issue didn't happen to other migrated users? 2. Which mode of outlook does the problematic user use, cache mode or online mode? 3. Does the windows search (windows desktop search) have been installed for problematic user? 4. Whats the version of OS on the problematic machine? 5. Does the item search work via OWA?

1. No, the issue didn't happen to other migrated users 2. Online mode 3. Yes, Windows desktop search has been installed. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling but that didn't help. 4. Windows Vista, although I tried a different computer with Windows XP on it and the same thing. 5. No, the item search does not work in OWA I tried the article listed but that didn't help either. Microsoft recommended that I export out the PST, delete the mailbox, recreate it, then import it back in. It's a huge mailbox so it will take a while.

The user has been using the PSTs in cached mode on his computer so he's just pulling most of the older emails locally. he said that the search works just fine, he hasn't tried to put them back in his mailbox yet.
