Outlook 2007 cannot use Out-of-Office feature on Exchange 2007.
Every time the Out-of-office feature is launched, a message pops up saying the server is not available. From the server's (Windows SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007) powershell command Test-OutlookWebServices |fl: Id : 1019 Type : Information Message : Found a valid AutoDiscover service connection point. The AutoDiscover URL on this object is {server address}/Autodiscove r/Autodiscover.xml. Id : 1013 Type : Error Message : When contacting https://{server address}/Autodiscover/Autod iscover.xml received the error The remote server returned an error: ( 401) Unauthorized. Id : 1006 Type : Error Message : The Autodiscover service could not be contacted. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you browse to the location manually using a web browser? https://{server address}/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml You will probably be prompted for a password. After providing it, can you see the .xml text? ------------------------------------------------ Can you run the following cmdlet in the EMS? Test-SystemHealth Are there any errors? Please try this one as well, since I see a reference to the Autodiscover service not being contacted (Autodiscover is not a service in the same sense as the services this cmdlet verifies, but it might rule out problems at this level): Test-ServiceHealth ----------------------------------------------- From your description, it sounds like this is ONLY happening when you use the Out-of-Office feature. Is that correct? If an Outlook user opens Outlook on a computer where they have no yet logged on, does Autodiscover populate the text boxes with the username and address (rather than you having to configure Outlook settings manually)? Do you see what I mean?

I can see the .xml text using the link https://{server address}/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [PS] C:\Windows\System32>Test-SystemHealth Test-SystemHealth : The subject alternative name (SAN) of SSL certificate for h ttps://sites/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml does not appear to match the host ad dress. Host address: sites. Current SAN: DNS Name={domain.com}, D NS Name={domain.LOCAL}, DNS Name=autodiscover.domain.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have to try Outlook on a client computer to test if Autodiscover populates the text boxes with the username and address. Thanks for pointing this out, it is a very good way to test it (which I always ignore).

Autodiscover in Outlook does populate the text boxes with the username and address. But when I performed "Test E-mail Auto Configuration" from Outlook, this messages came up: "Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings!"

OK. Thanks. That information may give the MS folks more to work with.

Hi, Please first try to create a new Autodiscover virtual direcotry: 1. Open Exchange Management Shell, type: Remove-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -Identity "CASServer\autodiscover(default web site)" new-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory 2. Run: iisreset. If the issue persists, please help me to collect the following information for further research: ================= 1. Open Exchange Management Shell, type: get-exchange certificate |fl |out-file c:\certificate.txt get-webservices VirtualDirectory |fl |out-file c:\webservices.txt get-clientAccessserver |fl |out-file c:\cas.txt Then go to C drive, and send these three TXT files to me at v-genli#microsoft.com Certificate informationPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
