Outlook 2007 SP2 get disconnected from Exchange server 2007 passing thru a permanent VPN in a trusted environment
Hi We have a permanent VPN between two trusted sites using Exchange 2007 linked mailboxes. Some times users from the remote site are getting the message that exchange is disconnected in their Outlook 2007. We have NTLM autehntification setup in the outlook, and some of the users has 2Gb PST locally on their desktop linked to their Outlook. Anyone has any idea why the users get sometimes disconnected from the server and have to wait a minute or two for the Outlook to be available again ?? Thanks

That happens when Outlook is having problems connecting to the Exchange server, and that usually indicates a network problem of some sort. That could be just about anything, I'm sorry to have to tell you. You're going to have to start collecting network performance data, I think.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi, Agree with Ed. It could be caused by the connectivity problem between the exchange and the VPN clients. When the outlook lost the connection with the exchange server, please try to ping the exchange server and see if you could get a reply. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks Gen Lin-MSFT
