Outlook 2003 rpc over https on Exchange 2010 SP1
Looking into upgrading to Exchange 2010 SP1. Currently, I have many Outlook 2003 Sp3 clients that connect to an Exchange 2007 server via RPC over https. The information is hard coded into the profile for the RPC connection (server name, etc) When installing Exchange 2010 into our current enviroment I see I need to create a legacy host name and assign it to my 07 server. I am not moving the mailboxes right away from 07 to 10. How will this affect the RPC settings? The way I read it is I would need to change the clients settings to the legeacy host name. Can anyone confirm? Thanks

You don't have change the client settings. Exchange 2010 will redirect clients to legacy host name. http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/11/20/3408856.aspx

It does not affect the RPC settings. After a legacy host name has been configured and associated with your Exchange 2007 infrastructure, and your current host name has been associated with your Exchange 2010 infrastructure, users will experience a seamless transition. Exchange 2010 will redirect users from the Exchange 2010 Client Access server to the Exchange 2007 Client Access server.
